Betshop Sportsbook Review

BetShop first appeared in 1996 as a high street bookmaker before first launching online in 1999.

The bookmaker is a subsidiary to GameMaster NV, a parent company that is licensed is and regulated by the authorities of Curacao.

Today Betshop operates shops in Germany, Italy, Cyprus, Lebanon and Romania. The site itself targets players predominantly from Eastern Europe and operates in 10 languages, including Greek, Italian, German, French, Russian, Romanian, Turkish, Albanian, Croatian and English.

The site is heavily restricted and not legally allowed to operate in a long list of countries countries including the U.S., Canada, France, Turkey and the U.K.

Betshop abides by their self-made principles in order to offer the best product to their players, promising to give them clarity, security and simplicity. Along with their sportsbook they also have facilities for their casino, games and virtual games available, but the sportsbook’s overwhelming focus is on Football.

In the past BetShop have had several sponsorship deals, most notably with the Italian football club Palermo in 2009.

Betshop have a somewhat large social media presence, with a Twitter following of over 3.5 thousand people who they update daily with exciting odds and offers. However, this following is limited solely to Greek market and there is currently no twitter feed for any other nationality.

Betting Markets

Betshop advertise the fact that they have over 400 events per week, with 60 bets for every single football match. However, this focus is squarely on football and the other markets are left feeling slightly ignored and clearly not as comprehensive. Overall the odds are relatively decent and remain competitive in such a saturated industry.

Currently the bookmaker offers markets in Football, Basketball, Tennis, Volleyball, Motorsports, American Football, Motorcycling, Ice Hockey, Elections, Rugby, Cricket, Baseball, Handball, Floorball, Bandy, Table Tennis, Winter Sports, Surfing and Chess.

However, there are some surprising sports missing from the list including Boxing, E-Sports or Golf, and the sportsbook should definitely consider adding these options for the future.

Live Betting

Despite being around for so long in what is a relatively new industry, Betshop do not have any live streaming facility or option for cash-out, which is a major issue considering how competitive the bookmaking climate is.

As a positive, Betshop do offer a match tracker which does well to visually display the game with statistics in quite a unique way. However, there could be much more on offer in the way of live stats in order to improve this facility further.

Usability of the site

As soon as Betshop’s page has loaded you instantly feel as though you have gone back in time by about 10 years. The poor design and display of their site leaves it looking tacky and tired, and their jarring gold and blue colour scheme doesn’t do it any favours at all.

The navigation is intuitive and easy to operate and their search bar is one of the best I have used, offering a simple drop down option after typing a few letters. There is also mobile support and this actually feels much more comfortable to use than the desktop site.

If players run into any issues there is a live-chat facility and an e-mail address available. However, there is no phone number, which may frustrate some players.

Amazingly, Betshop do not offer any promotions or welcome bonuses whatsoever and it may be a huge factor when it comes to attracting new potential players.

Betshop have a good range of payment options including Skrill, Paysafe Card and Neteller, along with the standard Visa and Mastercard options.

Conclusion

Overall, despite having a long and successful history in the bookmaking industry, Betshop have a long way to go before they will become a household name. With a very poorly designed site, a lack of markets, poor live betting facility and no promotions Betshop will struggle to compete.
