BetCRIS Sportsbook Review
BetCRIS is not a well known name in the UK or much of Europe but it boasts a Maltese licence which it has had since 2011. It’s registered under a company name of Townview Trading Limited and actually went online in 2000 at the turn of the millennium. It has been based in San Jose, Costa Rica and has been around as a company since the 1980s.
It is focused on the Latin American (its home) and Central American markets in addition to Asia and some of Europe. It uses software which is provided by a company called Digital Gaming Solutions. It boasts a presence across social media which includes Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Google+. Its Twitter handle, which has existed since 2009, has over 88,000 followers and is in Spanish.
In case you were an inquisitive sort, the CRIS in the title comes from Costa Rica International Sports Casinos.
BetCRIS is well established in Latin America and has featured on the likes of ESPN. As such it’ll be on no surprise that it offers popular US sports in abundance but this isn’t all it offers either.
Should you wish to check on the list of markets it offers in full, here they are: Baseball, Basketball, Boxing, Cricket, Cycling, Darts, Esports, Futsal, GAA Football, GAA Hurling, Golf, Handball, Ice Hockey, MMA, Motor Sport, Netball, Racing, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Snooker, Surfing, Tennis and Volleyball. It has a separate racebook too.
It also offers Futures betting and some limited Entertainment markets. All of these markets are contrary to change.
It’s been online since 2000 meaning the company is somewhat forward looking and innovative. Accordingly it boasts a decent section for live betting for its clientele. It only offers live markets on the NFL, the NBA, soccer and some golf at the time of writing.
This needs to be expanded thoroughly and made much more fun and appealing should it wish to generate custom and continue to bring customers back.
Usability of the site
BetCRIS is available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Tagalog and more which gives some suggestion as to its aims in terms of global coverage. Its focus is in latin America and here it’s a household name with over 100 physical locations.
Its adverts have been on ESPN meaning it invests a sizable sum in marketing and brand awareness, though there have been only limited team and league sponsorships. When it comes to product features it offers the likes of the Reduced Juice Program (which gives loyalty reward points and an increased status for bets placed and site activity) and the Streak Challenge (special tipping competitions with enhanced prizes) in a bid to ensure customers return and are rewarded for doing so.
The site itself is somewhat old in functionality and could do with a refresh and update. It does however offer strong customer service; it has live chat, email support and phone support too.
BetCRIS gives customers a welcome bonus, a refer a friend bonus and more to entice punters to the site. It has some limited blog posts with tips and predictions but this needs to either be scrapped or better organised and promoted as currently it’s hard to find on the site meaning it’s essentially worthwhile for BetCRIS to produce.
BetCRIS is first and foremost aimed at Spanish speaking customers and its focus is on sports betting though it does offer a casino games element. It’s well known throughout Latin America, and as such doesn’t need to do much to entice customers due to its long standing reputation. When it comes to entering Europe and Asia however it needs to do more to compete in these regions.
