Vernons Sportsbook Review
Vernons is a bookmaker whose origins stretch back as far as 1925. As such it is a very well trusted brand which now operates under parent company Netplay TV plc group. Netplay made with acquisition in 2013, it was believed to cost in the region of £3 million. Other brands that operate under this company include jackpot247 and Super Casino.
Vernons went online in 2011. It is regulated and licensed by the Alderney gambling control commission and it utilizes Playtech’s software to offer customers the most advanced options that igaming has to offer.
Vernons offers its punters sports betting and casino services, it also offers bingo and virtual sports which is an increasingly popular betting vertical. As with all online bookmakers these days Vernons is on social media it has selected the most popular social media channels to do so these are of course Facebook and Twitter, and it runs a Google+ too.
Vernons has a reasonable following on Twitter (2,400) but it could do more in terms of increasing brand awareness and competing with the tier 1 operators by signing partnerships with clubs and by going down the route of establishing a brand ambassador too.
As a bookmaker with a long history the list of sports which it offers customers is unsurprisingly long too! You can read them in full here: Football, horse racing, tennis, American football, baseball, basketball, boxing, cricket, darts, golf, handball, ice hockey, motorsport, rugby league, rugby union, snooker, volleyball, Australian rules football, MMA, cycling, and Olympics.
In addition to all of these sports Vernonss does not stop there. It also offers customers entertainment markets and politics too. Its entertainment section, whilst not the largest, is decent and it includes television and awards such as the Man Booker Prize. As far as politics goes it’s also quite limited to the big markets such as the winner of major elections.
Vernons also offers virtual sports.
As more and more bets are placed on mobile live In-Play Betting is becoming more and more important. Vernons offers live betting on a host of events and sports and customers are able to view the live betting events in different forms.
The graphics are excellent, this adds much to the live betting experience at Vernons in terms of making it much more fun. It does not however offer live streaming of events and this lets it down considerably.
Usability of the site
The Vernons site is both comprehensive and modern and offers customers a strong set of betting options. On the left-hand side of the homepage there is a search bar which makes for a far quicker betting experience. The quick links beneath this are also helpful in achieving this goal. The general layout of the site makes it easy for new bettors to find the markets they are looking for and the option to personalise this site and have your favourite markets and events on the very top left hand side of the home page is great to meet this end too.
In terms of banking options a trusted brand like Vernons is unsurprisingly strong; it allows customers to choose from a wide range of options for deposit and withdrawal including Visa, Mastercard and a range of popular ewallets such as Skrill, Moneybookers, Neteller and, more notably, PayPal.
Customer support at Vernons is as comprehensive as the banking options it offers. These include live chat, email and phone support too. There is a separate email addresses for casino and sportsbook enquiries, and hopefully the live chat is accessible in one click from the home page.
Vernons mobile is good, and offers the same features as desktop, but it does not at this time offer a specific mobile app which many on the go punters tend to prefer.
Having been around since 1925 Vernons has garnered the respect of both customers and industry competitors alike. It is a trusted brand which, since going online in 2011, has continued to offer it punters the best services by utilising industry leaders Playtech’s software into its product.
It was acquired in 2013 by Netplay and whilst it is on social media it needs to do more to reach a younger demographic of bettors. Vernons live betting is great too except for the lack of live streaming.
